Sleaford Standard 07-NOV-2007 – The Phoenix cinema to rise from the ashes of decay. It will be removed from Spilsby, re-built in Caistor as a museum and could be replaced by housing. The beloved cinema in Reynard Street has been a feature of Spilsby for many years but ceased showing films about five years ago. People were concerned the building was going to be torn down but owner David Hill, of Caistor, actually plans to move the cinema and re-build it in Caistor where it will be used as a museum and movie house. He said: "It's actually a First World War army hut which was originally moved from Immingham I believe, so we are trying to move it again."

Market Rasen Mail 14-NOV-2007 - Former cinema has been reborn before. Following our story regarding the Phoenix Cinema, Spilsby, relocating to Caistor last week, we caught up with former employee, Bernard Kidd, who recalled his time at the cinema during the 1950s. The cinema was originally named The Franklin Cinema when it was bought in the early 1930s by James Badley.

DRAFT - Spilsby Conservation Area Appraisal November 2007. 8.1.2 On Reynard Street, the conservation area currently runs down the backs of the houses on the West side of Queen Street and then runs along the backs of the buildings on the High Street, excluding any buildings on Reynard Street itself. It is proposed to change the boundary to run from No.17 Queen Street to include Nos. 33-43 on the north side, and Nos. 42-44 on the south side as well as the old Cinema building. The houses to be included are red brick Victorian terraces similar to many in other parts of the conservation area and the cinema is a unique (within Spilsby), if dilapidated, example of Art Deco. It is hoped that including it in the conservation area may aid its restoration/ reuse. see here
