NO3408 : Cults Lime Kiln
near to Coaltown of Burnturk, Fife, Great Britain

Cults Lime Kiln
An immense wall of concrete containing one large and two smaller lime kilns. There is a plaque indicating the kilns, which are now disused, were rebuilt in 1937, but how old the original version was I have not established. Quarrying for limestone took place for several centuries along the escarpment (locally known as the 'balcony') of Cults Hill here.
