Ravensmoor windmill, Burland
Ravensmoor windmill, Burland
The former windmill at Burland dates from the early 19th century and once stood on Ravensmoor Common, enclosed in 1838. Last used to grind corn c. 1884, in 1890 the mill was converted to pump water from an adjacent artesian well to supply part of the Dorfold estate; the wind-pumping mechanism was replaced in 1922 and remains in situ. The grade-II-listed building is now residential. For more information, see Latham 'Acton' pp. 86-88 & LinkExternal link
