Garboldisham Post Mill - Great Spur Wheel
The small great spur wheel can be seen here along with the stone nuts and governors. This equipment dates from the 1830s and is one of the reasons why the mill is grade II listed.
Garboldisham Post Mill

Garboldisham is Norfolk's oldest surviving post mill being built in the 1770s by James Turner, a farmer from Blo' Norton. The dates 1780 and 1789 (as well as many other dates and millers names) can be seen etched in wood or in surviving plaster. Inside the roundhouse is a small roller plant and bags of flour associated with the modern flour sales. Upstairs can be seen the machinery, much of it dating from the 1830s modernisation. All is present, including an interesting internal striking rod. Although not grinding at present it wouldn't require too much work, the sails are the main hurdle.
The mill can be viewed via appointment with the owner.
