"Tangle" of Transmission Lines at Monk Fryston
This view, from Lunnfields Lane as it cross the newly opened A1(M), shows the electricity pylons that leave Monk Fryston Sub-station (electricity switching station) to cross the country side in various directions. This apparent tangle is clearly shown on the 1:25,000 scale OS map as four transmission lines, each of which carries two 400kV three-phase circuits. Each transmission tower carries two circuits, with the three phases that form each circuit dangling from arms at each side of the tower.
