Quainton Windmill
Quainton Windmill
This magnificent windmill standing over 70' (20+ m) tall is the tallest in the county and was constructed between 1830 and 1832. Thankfully it is undergoing lengthy and dedicated refurbishment as it had long lost its sails and was in a sorry state some years ago. It is now, I believe, able once again to mill flour, though it may be closed at the moment for some more repairs (see sign on fence).
See LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) for more information.

September '08 update:
Please note that this mill has now been restored to full working order and when open on Sunday mornings and wind permitting we are now producing our own stoneground flour. The windmill Society now has a web site for the mill which can be viewed at LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link )
