Looking west along a drain
Upton Black Mill drainage pump can be seen on the horizon. Upton Black drainage mill was named after its black tarred red brick tower, which had less batter in the upper section and was encircled with 5 iron bands. The boat shaped cap used to have a gallery with a petticoat and it once held a fan stage. A date stone inscribed 1800 was set under a window facing the river. The mill was converted into accommodation in 1985.
