Walton's Spire
Walton's Spire
This monument was originally an ancient monolith overlooking the iron age 'castle' of Castercliff and was much taller and wider than it is now. The Rev Richard Thomas Walton of Marsden Hall arranged for the monolith to be reduced in height and shaped as it is now and had the stone cross placed on the top
