Shakespeare Memorial Theatre Transformation
Work is underway on the RSC's £112.8M refurbishment programme. Nearer the camera the rounded end of the original 1879 Victorian Gothic theatre can be see, now housing the Swan Theatre. Beyond it is the fly tower and the remaining main auditorium riverside wall of Elizabeth Scott's 1932 "new" Memorial Theatre. The riverside frontage which used to house the restaurant has been demolished and the blue girders support the remains of the main auditorium wall.
