GeoGraph - photograph every grid square

This iconic landmark is one of the best known views on the Broads, seen here from the Bure. It was the only monastery in Britain which survived the Dissolution; the king exchanged it for lands owned by the Diocese of Norwich. The Bishop of Norwich is therefore Abbot of St Benets, and presides at an annual service on the first Sunday in August. (See TG3815 : Procession to the St Benet's Annual Service.)

The abbey was abandoned in the mid-16th century, and the mill was built around 1800, taking advantage of the strength of the standing gatehouse walls.
