University Hospital boiler house
It was about 1977 when I walked in here and found several coal burning packaged boilers and a couple of steam Weir pumps. The short silver-grey stack is a more modern addition and is on a gas turbine that generates electricity and also produces steam in a waste heat recovery boiler. This latter is (was) also partly fired on clinical waste if my memory serves me right. It was quite an innovation when installed (1980s I think).
As this complex produces power as both electricity and heat (steam), I have classified it as a power station.
