Chapel Hill Pleasure Grounds, Torquay
The footpath slopes down steeply to the main Newton Road into Torquay. The beech tree trunk is a host to green algae which thrives in the shadowy and damp interior. The tree trunk also bears the inscription "HAZEL" carved years ago by some admirer. Like Keats, we all strive for impossible permanence in the flux of the time process. Hazel lives on for a time. She made her mark.
