SV9109 : Peninnis Mill and Wilson seat
near to Old Town, Isles of Scilly, Great Britain

Peninnis Mill and Wilson seat
Only the granite base and a millstone remains. The mill was built in 1726 by Frances Godolphin. In 1834 it was superseded by the Buzza Tower. Used later as a signal station and still stood 3.7m high in 1954. It was demolished in 1960.
The seat has a simple inscription "In memory of Harold Wilson his favourite walk". One of my favourite prime ministers who introduced the Open University and the clean air act.
