River Colne: Ford Lane ford
River Colne: Ford Lane ford
The River Colne widens and gets very shallow here and historically there has always been a ford in this location. All the old online Ordnance Survey 6" to 1 mile map series up to the edition of 1934 mark the crossing as a ford. Judging by the undisturbed state of the mud in the foreground a vehicle has not been driven over the ford in a long time. This image was taken looking westwards across the river.
