SH9479 : Low tide mark
near to Pensarn, Conwy, Great Britain

Low tide mark
Another intertidal square - another wellie-job! The vast expanse of sand on Pensarn Beach stretches as far as the eye can see. Ultimately the sand reaches as far as the Dee estuary without any break. These few stones are the only feature apart from channels running out, and I am sure they are not natural, but material dropped when the nearby groyne was constructed. There are many patches of tenacious, grey clay which are remnants of coastal marsh that have been eroded by rising sea level since the last Ice Age.
