SU1782 : Black swan, Coate Water, Swindon
3 km from Swindon, Great Britain

Black swan, Coate Water, Swindon
Aquatic birds are as common on the lake as stained glass windows are in Norfolk. This one, however, is not so often seen. Cygnus atratus is not indigenous to the UK. The forebears of this attractive bird were introduced from Australia. He (or she) seemed quite at home among the resident mute swans, coots, canada geese, mallard and gulls.
