SH4593 : Folded strata
near to Amlwch Port, Isle of Anglesey/Sir Ynys Mon, Great Britain

Folded strata
Rock outcrops belonging to the Amlwch Beds of the Pre-Cambrian New Harbour Group near to the car park display superb folding. Originally laid down as sediments with alternating sandy and clay-rich layers, heat and intense pressure have transformed the rocks, and earth movements have buckled and pleated the original layering.
