I’m now semi-retired from a career in systems/software engineering and management consultancy. The last ten years has been spent trying to rescue Government IT-intensive programmes in difficulty - challenging and tiring! I watch with amusement as we hear high-profile stories of lost data etc - all totally avoidable by applying good practice and systems engineering.I came across Geograph by accident in May 2007 and it became an instant hit. It's not just the pictures - the information and discussions are excellent.
I grew up on a farm in Cornwall and have lived in London, Harrogate, Bath and now Malvern. Angela and I have been married for almost 30 years and we’ve been country walking for all that time. We live in a beautiful area and like exploring locally. We've also walked many long distance paths and a good proportion of the UK coastline.
My camera is a Sony Cybershot compact and I carry it everywhere in my pocket (can't cope with anything larger). I'm also scanning some slides from my 30+ years archive - the quality might not be the very best but I hope you find the material interesting.
