1787: Built by Joseph Linsell and his wife
1807: Sold by Joseph Linsell
1857: Converted to use shutter instead of canvas sails
1910: Last used commercially for crushing oats
1935: Donated through the munificence of the then owner, the second Lord Blyth, for the benefit of the inhabitants of Stansted
1952: Became a Scheduled Ancient Monument
1964: Opened to the public for the first time
