Built in around 1765, the brick roundhouse at its base was converted in 1880 into a Chapel of Ease to St Mary's Parish Church, Reigate (see
TQ2550 : St Mary's Church, Reigate). As such it is believed to be the only consecrated windmill in the country.
The chapel, known as the Mill Church, was opened for services on 14 September 1880 and an afternoon service is still held here once a month during the summer, with occasional other events and services, including a December carol service.
The building is grade II* listed - see
Link (although this erroneously refers to it as Reigate Heath Baptist Church).
