Impington Windmill

The mill comprises five storeys with two in the hexagonal white timber smock and three in the base. It was built on the site of an earlier post mill with the smock mill built in 1776 on the 17th century base. Around 1850 with the advent of the patent sail system the mill was raised to its current height. The original timber in the smock structure is a Baltic Spruce. The sails were fitted in 2007 though there is some work to be done to restore the internal machinery to working order. The mill sails were turned over by the wind for visitors during National Mills Weekend 2013.
